  • H1 to L1 A

    Hi,

My company is transfering my H1 visa to L1 A (managerial visa). DO you know how much time it is required to get this transfer process (CoS) completed?

Also, is my wife eligibile to get a SSN and a EAD immediately so that she can work in usa?

    Thanks.

If you or your employer pay for Premium Processing for the L-1A petition, it can be as quick as 15 days. Regular processing could be more. Check USCIS.org.

Your wife's status should also change to L2. You should apply for her COS as well at the same time. Once this COS is approved, she can apply for SSN, EAD. She can only work after she gets EAD card.

      Thanks for this..

Also, once my L1 A is processed, my employer is filing a greencard for me. I heard that processing time for greencard after L1A is pretty short. Can someone tell me what would be the typical timeline for getting my GC?

      Thanks

You should get the GC within about a year if you qualify for EB-1C. I am envious.

Employer can file I-140 and I-485 concurrently, AFAIK.
