Visa does not matter. What about your I-94?

If you have a pending extension you are fine. Your status is authorized.

But isn't the L2 dependent also required to apply for an extension at the same time as the primary L1 holder? From my understanding (however limited), the L2 dependent also needs to apply for extension. Extension of an L1 primary does not automatically ensure extension of L2.

Your visa, I-94 can remain expired. Your parents have to qualify for a visitor visa on their own merit. Your docs do not mean much and are hardly looked at by the VO. A receipt for extension can be sent if you are paranoid.

--- If you have a US (H or L) visa stamped in your passport till Sep 2009 and you wish to get a new H or L visa stamped, you can get it now. The expiry date on the new H or L visa will be subject to the expiry of the valid I-797 petition of the primary visa holder. This is under the assumption that your husband already has his visa petition extended beyond Sep 2009.

Assuming that you are a dependent, you and your husband (preferably) should go together to the US consulate and get the visa(s) stamped.

If you decide to come to the US with your existing stamp till Sep 2009, your husband's employer should (immediately) file for a visa extension beyond Sep 2009 and his employer should also file an extension for you (the dependent).

                  Hope this helps.
                  Thanks
                  Rajesh
