L1B to L2

Hi,
I am currently on L1B and my visa expires on 10/5
My wife is also on L1B
I would like to apply for a change of status from L1B to L2.
Can I apply for a change of status myself ?
Should my wife's employer only apply for a change of status?

You can apply COS to L2.
