  • L1B to L1A Conversion

    Hello,

My L1B visa expires Dec 2009 after completion of the total allowed period of 5 years. If i intend to contine to stay in the USA beyond that, what steps do i need to take?

    Can i convert the L1B to L1A(so i get additional 2 yrs)?
    or
Is GC processing the only option?

In either case how early should the process be begun?

    Appreciate your help

    Thanks
    SS

You cannot just "convert". You can file for H1B and get another year if you get through quota.

If you meet the L1A requirements you can apply for L1A while applying for the extension of your current L1B.

        Dear Visa2travel,

My 5 year tenure of the L1B will be completed in Dec 2009, so i dont think its possible to extend the L1B anymore.

I meet the L1A requirements, so can i file for the L1A now? if so how early should i begin the process

        Thanks
        SS
