L1 status - when sponsoring firm is sold to another firm

What happens to the status of an L1 visa when the sponsoring firm is bought by another firm. Does the sponsorship get transfered to the new firm?

It is a complicated subject and depends on how the sale was formalized. The company attorneys can tell you better if the firm buying has transferred the immigration responsibilities as well.
