urgent help needed...minimum requirement for L2 ??

hi all,
I am in L1-B and my visa gets over by apr-2009. we are planning to apply L2 for my wife. is there any minimum time requirement for L2 (i.e. do we require a minimum of 6 months of validity for my L1? )

Please help me to solve my clarification....!!!!
