  • Is this Legal? L1

Want to know if it is legal to come into the USA from Canada on a blanket permit for employer and then be sent to another country to work using this for another subsidiary of their company? If only the USA permit was given then how can I be sent to another country and still be legal to work? The other country did not do any immigration or work permits on many of us, they are using the USA L1 to get us into the USA and then shipping us out elsewhere closeby but in another foreign country as soon as we get into the USA.

Not sure what to do, or if this is legal, or what??? Please help.

Can you elaborate? How can another country let one work on a US L1 visa?

If they do that, they will first file for immigration to whatever the other country is, except if they are sending you to Afghanistan no visas needed there!

        response to comments

Response to your questions, we have been told there were no immigration procedures done in the other country by officials. It is a country where it is illegal not to be doing them, but came from Canada to USA, then shipped out to the other country on a USA blanket permit. On top of that these blanket permits demand workers be watched by the sponsor employer, not happening. I think this is illegal and do not want to be messed with here.

            Something seems fishy here.

              I'm not sure whether ...

... they're shipped off to another country or really put in large 40 feet containers and then moved across the borders.

We need more information on this process.

Probably, they ship from Halifax, Nova Scotia to New York. But then here to, its better to use containers.

              Take care.

Is this something to do with people on ships programming in the high seas outside the territorial waters of US? I read some article on that couple of months back.

                  There's also a ...

... guy who owns an unused oil platform outside England in international waters.

He has disaster recovery servers here. Maybe this will be a good place for "off shore" development.
