Hi all,
I had great help from this forum and hence want to contribute my experience which might be useful for others.
current visa was expiring in Nov end 2008
Entered into Canada, toronto on nov 22
appointment on nov 24
Went to visa office - 8.05 AM
After security, they took the main documents (DS-156, 157, passport, bank receipt, I-797) and put them in their blue transparent folder. The lady asked me to take new photos inside. The photo mechine takes only 5$ CAN bills and so I have to request people for change. If possible take 5 and 10 CAN bills with you.
Then I sat there for nearly 30 mins when a lady called me and took fingerprints. Then I waited for another 10 mins and my name was called.
VO gave the stamped bank receipt first and then he asked me how I landed in canada. I showed him my landing document and visa on my passport. Then he asked me about my company, client, project I am working. Later he asked when I want to pick up my passport with visa. I told him wed and he said fine.
I wishes him happy thanksgiving and he smiled and said bye. That was it.
The entire process took around 1.30 hrs.
Additional information - there is a starbucks at the end of the street so that your friends can wait there. In case you need to call someone, you can get 1CAN phone cards at the other end of the street in convinience store(desi) and there is a pay phone also inside.
Hope this is helpful for someone planning their apmt in toronto
Good Luck for all !!!
