  • L1 B extension

    Hi,
The I94 and L1B Visa for me and my family(L2 for them) expires on Feb 2010. I know it is pretty early to ask but have the following queries:
    1. When should I apply for the extension i.e how many months before the expiration date?
    2. If the extension is approved do I get a new I94? Do I need to get the VISA restamped even if I do not go back to India till the extension is valid? If yes is there a timeframe to get the extended VISA restamped?
    3. If the extension is approved before Feb2010 and I go to India on a vacation Can I get it restamped even if the original VISA is still valid?

    1. 6 months before expiry of I-94 is the earliest.
    2. You need a visa only if you are going out and planning to return. Otherwise, when the extension is approved, it comes with an attached I-94 with the same number as the one you have. You just staple them together.
    3. Yes.

        L1 B extension

        Hi
My L1B expires in feb 2010. Going by the previous reply I have the following questions: -
1.if I apply for an extn in Aug 2009 Can I go on vaction say in Sep?
        2. If Yes and if the extension is approved before I return, I assume that I get a fresh I94 posted to my address.I also get an I94 When I re-enter after vacation. Which of the two I-94s are valid then?

            L1 B Visa Extension

I got my L1 B Visa in 2005 for three years. I came to the US for short stints initially and transferred to the US office for a long term in the beginning of 2008. My L1 B Visa expired in 2008 June and I extended the Visa and period of stay by two years to 2010 June.

By 2010 June, I would have stayed in the US for 3 years and six months in all.

Can my L1 B Visa be extended second time before 2010 June so that I can stay in the US for 5 years permissible under L1 B?

            Please let me know. Thanks.
