    Hello,

My L1B visa stamping is on Jan 06 2009.
I'm married for the last 6 months. He had a civil marraige ceremony in a district court in India. We have pics where we are signing the legal papers in front of the magistrate officer. We have our marraige certificate also.

We did not opt for religious ceremony.

Will the visa office consider our civil marraige pics ? Is it mandatory to get married per Indian customs ?

Will they create any problems ?

    Thanks.

No, it is not mandatory as long as you can explain why a religious marriage was not performed if asked.

I know a couple of athiest friends and ones that got married without parental consent that just had a gathering for a court marriage and no formal religious ceremony. No problems with the visa.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
