I lost my passport with Valid US Visa

Am in USA on L1 Visa. I applied for L2 visa for my family in India. Now I recently lost my passport in USA and got my new passport from Indian Embassy. USCIS told me that I need to apply for new visa when I go back to India. My question is... Is the L2 Visa issued to my family still valid? Can they travel to USA on that Visa? Please advise.

Yes. L2 is linked to the status you hold in US and your L1 petition. Visa is just an entry document.
