  • L1B extension beyond 5 yrs

    Hello gurus out there,

I came to US on a L1B VISA 3 years ago, and got it extended last week for 2 more years. I have an approved I-140 and waiting for the priority date to be current to submit I-485. Given this situation,

Can I extend L1B byond 5 yrs? if yes, what is the cap?
Do I need to leave the country on the expiry of the extended L1B?
Will GC process continues if I have leave the country after 2 years?

Please suggest me if there are ways to continue to live here and get my GC going. Am also thinking of H1B, and appreciate if you could throw your thoughts on this.

    Thank you for your time.

Not possible to extend L1 beyond 5 years. If you can have a 485 filed and pending, you can work on EAD.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
