H1 approved and on L1 now

Hello,

In the year 2008, I got my H1 filed through X in the US and it got approved just 2 days ago.
I came to the US in April 2007 on L1B visa through Y.
X filed with COS and when I came to know that I cannot work on H1 if COS was approved, I quickly decided to go for a vacation to my home country on my pending H1.
I came back to the US with new I94 on L1 and still working on L1.
When I came back I heard that USCIS sent an RFE to X. The RFE was replied to and henceforth my H1 got approved.

Now that Y wants me to join him, he is threatening to sue me.
I do not want to join because market is bad and I do not see consulting career a good option. I realised it late.
What should I do now ?

Unfortunately, yes.

It is illegal to pay for the H1b and for the employer to accept it. Ignore the employer and he will not do anything. You should also complain to DOL using a WH4 form about the H1b payment. Please do so that these jokers should not thrive on others hard work. It will not harm you or your status.
