L1 B to L1 A conversion

Hi,
I am currentlt working on L1B in USA.I have completed 4 years on L1B.

Below are my questions related L1B to L1 A conversion.
1) Can we do a L1-B to L1-A while staying in USA.
2) Who has to apply for this? Can i apply on my own or my company has to do that?
2) When should L1-B to L1-A conversion applied. Is there any time dependency.like it should be applied 6 months before the L1-B(5 years) completes.
3) How long it will take for L1-B to L1-A conversion process.

b1 status , got approval for l1a

thanks for this forum, i received most of my answers..

quick question: I am currently in b1 visa and my i94 expired on april 3rd but applied for extension and currently the status is under process , meanwhile applied for l1a through my attourney and got approved for l1a.

do i need to go back india to get it stamped for l1a or can use the approved l1a approval notice form. I am planning for short visit to india. I just want to know whether i get any problem at port of entry back to USA.

Advice me whether a)need to approach usa consulate in india or b)whether can i use the same l1a approval from usa.

Travel while L1-b to L1-A conversion..urgent help needed

thanks for your answers.You been very helpful when i need some reliable answers. Here is my situation. I have L1-B visa which is expring on Dec 20th 2009. My wife is working on L2 EAD which is also expiring on Dec 20th and she needs to apply for EAD renewal by Aug 20th(120 days before expiry).

My current company is trying to do a L1B to L1-A conversion as i already completed 4 years on L1-B.My wife is going for a home country trip for 2 weeks(Jul 18th to Aug 3rd).

Below are my questions:
1)Can my wife travel to india after my L1b to L1 A conversion is applied.What kind of issues will be there if she travels while my application is processing.

2)Is it better to Apply for my L1b to L1 A after she comes back to USA?

3) Is there any premium processing option available for L1B to L1A conversion.
i need to get my Approval by Aug 20th so that i can apply for my wifes
EAD extension(120 days before expiry)

4) if the Premium processing option is avaliable can i apply for L1B to L1A conversion and get the approval before she leaves for her trip. in that case does she needs a stamping in home country or can she come back using her current valid L2 visa stamping(expiring on Dec 20th).

5)Will there be any possible issues with L1B to L1A conversion? I have been working this company from more than 8 years and working on L1-B from 4 years.

Please suggest me the best way to handle this situation.
