  • Higher studies and green card

    Hello,

I'm working in the US on L1B visa. I've 6 years of work exp.
The company that I work for is planning to file my green card by June 2009.

Just want to know, can I go for full time higher studies (MBA) when my green card processing is going on ?

    Please let me know.

    Thank you.

Yes you can study anytime. But changing to F1 may not be allowed as you have already expressed your intent to reside permanently in US by filing for a GC.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

Ok ....so can I go out of the US like apply for MBA in some university in the UK and if I get through can I study in UK?

This way, I'm not disturbing my L1B visa or green card processing?

That is an HR issue. As far as immigration is concerned, you have to have a sponsor for the job that is willing to employ you in the future as GC is for future employment. If you are not in the US, it has to be a CP case than an AOS case.

More discussion is needed with your employer and lawyer.
