Working from India on a US Payroll for a US Company with L2 EAD

I wish to let you know that my L2 EAD is valid till October 2009. Due to personal reasons, me any my husband are leaving to India in mid February 2009. I'm working with a US based company as an employee which do not have an offshore office at India.

Can I work from India legally for this US based company on the US Payroll?

I would appreciate a prompt reply as quickly as possible.

Once you leave the US soil physically, you are subject to employment rules of the country you are working from. US would not have any say in it as long as you pay the taxes.
