H1 to L1 Conversion

Hi,
I am having H1B and its expiring on May 4, 2009. Usually my employer does H1 to L1 converion only when H1 expires. But I have not yet approached my employer.

1. How long it will take to Convert to L1.
2. And How much company need to spend on this H1 to L1 conversion.
3. Its only 7 weeks left for my H1 expiring. Is it possible to get it done by this time.
4. What is the least time for applying this L1 conversion.I mean how many days before visa expiry(I 94 expiry) we can apply for H1 to L1 onversion.
5. Once its converted to L1B then I94 date will change automatically or Again I need to apply for L1B extension.

People are wanting to do the opposite of what you are trying to do.

1. 2-6 months
2. Depends on the attorney fees.
3. Yes
4. One day before the I-94 expires at the minimum.You cannot continue work until the L1 COS is approved though.
5. If L1b EOS is approved, I-94 will get extended automatically.
