L1 Visa Extention Query - Please Help!!!

Hi Guys, My L1 Visa is getting expired on Sep 2009. My employer is ready to file for extension but also informed me that now days many of L1 Extensions are getting rejected.

If this is true, by which ways I can legally stay in USA if my extension gets rejected?

One of options that I heard is, going back to India, filling NEW L1 petition and then coming back to USA? Is that workable? Is/are there any other options that I should be trying along with this?

----Thats true. If it gets rejected, your stay is valid until sept 2009(I-94).
