  • L2 EAD Question

    Hi,

I am in the US on L2 status, but was working earlier in the US from Jul 2006 till Feb 09 on L1 status. In Feb 09 my L1 extension was denied by USCIS as my employer was not able to provide sufficient evidence on specialised knowledge. Hence I returned back to India on 2nd Mar 2009 and applied for L2 (my husband is on L1 with another company). I got my L2 visa and travelled back to US on L2 on 11th Apr 09.I am on extended loss of pay with my employer at present for upto 1 year.I am planning to apply for EAD and have the following questions:

    1) Is there any wait time to apply for EAD once in US? If yes, how long?
    2) Since I have my job in India, can I still apply for EAD?
    3) Will my L1 extension denial cause any issues with my EAD application?

Is there anyone who has changed status from L1 to L2 recently and applied for EAD?
Any inputs or suggestions will help.

    Thanks
    SP

      Thanks for your response.
In the I-765 form for EAD application there is a question : Have you ever before applied for employment authorization from USCIS?
I am not sure of the answer as I had a work permit(L1/H1) before.

Any inputs on this will be useful.

      Regards
