Is visa stamping required for working on L1

Hi,

I am working on L1B and my wife is with me on L2 (EAD not applied). She is currently employed in a MNC in Bangalore and is currently on vacation here in the US.

My wife's company would be filing for her L1 petition next month.

My questions is, does she have to goto India and get her L1 Visa stamped OR she can just start working for her company here in the US as soon as she gets her L1 Petition and not go back to India for visa stamping?

Basically, she would be on L2 Visa but with L1 petition (work permit to work on L1, not EAD).

Please let me know.

Depends on how the company is filing for it. If it is a COS from L2 to L1, then no visa is needed. If it is a CP case, a visa is needed.
