change my status from H1 to L2 is possible while staying in this country ?

Hi all,
My H1B visa and I94 is expiring end of Sep'09.

My spouse is in L1, so can I apply for a change of status to L2 while staying in this country.

If yes,
what is the procedure ? please let me know.
