  • H1 to L2 after 6 years?

    Hi,
    My 6 years of H1B expires Dec-09 and my wife is in L1.

    => Can I change my status to L2 after/before Dec09?

    => Do I have to go out of country to get a L2 Visa or I can do a change of status staying in US.

    => If L2 is approved can I work right away or need to wait for specific number of days before start working?

    => Can I continue to work in US with the same employer with L2?

    Thanks in advance

    You may apply for COS from within the US, do that before your I-94 expires.
    If you apply for and get approved for L2 EAD, you may work for any employer.
    This is my opinion and not legal advice.

      Thanks a lot for the reply.. Few more questions ..

      -> Do i have to tell my current employer that i am applying for COS ( from H1 to L2).

      -> What is the rough time estimate for COS to get approved.

      -> Can I apply for EAD along with COS or I have to wait for specific number of days before applying for EAD?

      -> Do my current H1 employer has to any special processing once I get my COS and EAD ?

      Thanks
      Das
