L1 visa - Info needed
Currently I have a valid L1B individual visa and it expires this month end. I was in US for more than 2 years and came back this April. No Visa extension was applied for. I was planning to stay back in India for a year or so. But things changed and I would be travelling back to US pretty soon (long term).
My company initiated L1B Blanket now. Right now am waiting for get PA date and would be going for stamping before my current visa expires. The HR team in my company confirmed that this would not be an issue.
My question is about the duration of stay in US. I understand that a person can stay only for 5 years in US under L1 visa. Does it mean I can stay only for 2 years in US and work in India for an year after that? I came back in April and have been in India payroll for last 3 months. Does it mean my stay in US is not continuous?
