  • Passport renewal

    Hi,

The expiry dates are as follows

    L1 Visa - Oct 2009
    Passport - Apr 2010
    I-94 - Oct 2010

I beleive I can stay and work at US till Oct 2010 as my I-94 is valid till then. I may need stamping if I travel outside country.

If I renew my passport now at US will my I-94 validity change?
Can I renew it from US itself ?

    Somebody please respond.

    Thanks

Passport renewal has nothing to do with your I-94. I-94 is issued by USCIS. Passport renewal is by your home country. Whenever you want to send your passport for renewal, remove the original I-94 card attached to your expiring passport and keep it with you. You need to send only a copy of the I-94 along with your original passport and other supporting documents for passport renewal. You will receive your new passport as well as your old passport back after the renewal. While travelling you need to carry both the passports because the visa will still be in your old passport.
Not a legal advice. Use of this information is strictly at your own risk.
