H1B to L2 conversion

Hi,

My friend is having H1B and it is expired; and he submitted for H1B extension. Currently his wife is working on L1 and he want to convert from H1B to L2.

1) Is that is possible to convert to L2
2) He can stay here legally till the H1B approved or he converted to L2
3) How much it will take for this conversion.

1) Yes

2) He can stay, but with no status. If H1 extn denied, his stay would become illegal from day of old H1 expired.

3) You mean how much time? 2-3 months. You can go for premium processing to know decision in 15 days, for $1000 more.
