  • Is experience in acquired company counted for L1B visa processing?

According to L1 Visa rules, the candidate must have been employed by the sponsoring company, in a branch outside the United States for a minimum of one of the three years directly preceding the application.

I have experience of 1 year and 10 months with AA company. This month, our parent company in US and our AA company got acquired by a bigger BB company which also has existing operations in India. Now, we are employees of BB company.

If, my company applies for L1B visa for me, will my experience with AA company (acquired company) be counted? Or, will I have to stay in BB company for an year more to become eligible for L1B processing.

Also, can L1B Individual visa be applied for without the help of a lawyer?

Please respond quickly as this issue is holding my Visa processing since long.

Yes, provided the specialized knowledge can be proved.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
