Damaged Passport and rceieved 221(g)

Hi

I'm new to this community and hope to get some help.
I have ben working in US for on L1. I wanted to switch to H1 and get my H1 stamping done. So Nov 9 th, i went to Chennai Consulate.The VO checked my passport and talked to somebody there and asked me to get the reissue of the passport because the photo was not pasted properly.She handed over a blue form 221(g) and asked me to submit the documents through dropbox.She took my DS 156 and DS 157 also.
Now my question is:
1)Should i submit a New DS 156/157 with new passport number? I cannot edit my DS 156/7 online now. OR should i attache the old Ds 156 with old passport number and write a covering letter to state that my new passport hs come.

2)How many days will the decision be made?. I already have my return tickets booked.Assuming i drop the docs the dropbox by 17 th November 2009.how may days will it take to come?

>>>> Old DS 156/157 with a covering letter will do. Submit both the passports (including the one that is cancelled. Put a rubber band over the last page of the new passport and the first page of the old passport so that they stay together) in the drop box. For more info call the VFS helpline Number.

>>>> It is hard to predict this. It varies for each case. Since it is just because of the passport and not a request for any other documents, I hope they will send you the stamped passport soon.

Well, here is the update for those who have had this damaged passport problems. i went to VFS to double check with them, as to which DS 156/7 should i submit.
They gave me their website , and asked me to prepare a new DS156/7 with new passport number and write acovering lettr and submit via dropbox.
new rule i supoose.

Hi Sashi, I also got 221g form for damaged passport. Can you please let me know how long will it take for the visa to get stampted once the passport is dropped in the VFS drop box? My interview happened in Hyderabad.

Damaged Passport 221g

hello guys,
i received 221g for damaged passport and i want to know whether i need to submit new DS 156/7 to VFS or old DS156/7 will do for my visa stamping?
also if i need to submit new forms where i can download them as i can not edit my previous online forms...
