Canadian Immigration while staying in US

Hi,

I have a valid L1 VISA and currently in US. I would like to apply for Canadian Immigration while staying in the US.

Can anyone provide inputs on whether it is possible to process the Immigration application for Canada while staying in the US or that I have to go back to India and then apply for the Canadian Immigration.

I am an IT professional and my skillset is part of the listed category in the Immigration site. How long would the process take.
