  • L1 221g, email request recieved to submit yellow letter&passport and trouble follows

    Folks,

Perhaps this is a strange case...

I appeared for B1 and was given 221g(admin processing). Recieved B1 after 2 weeks. Travelled to US on B1.

Then after an year or so, I went for L1(interview was on 22nd Oct 2009). Again I was handed 221g(admin processing). After 4 weeks, received an email from consulate stating that the admin processing was complete and I required to submit yellow letter, Passport and evvelope at the nearest VFS office.

Passport submitted at VFS office on 30th Nov 2009.

Then after a week, I got a call from Consulate. The lady told me that my B1 Visa was cancelled by "MISTAKE". She requested me to submit new DS-156/157 forms as they needed the forms to process my B1 again.

Then she told me that both my Visas L1 and B1 were kept on Hold as they need to do ADMIN PROCESSING.

When they already completed the required Admin processing for both visas B1(infact they granted B1 in 2008) and L1 (they sent an email that Admin processing was complete) why did they keep the Visas on Hold again??

It's been 16 days now and I don't have my Passport wherabouts. I need my passport as I have another assignment coming up.

I've called up the VFS office and they asked me to call them back the next day between 2-3 PM..I get the same answer everyday. This has been happening for 3 days now.

Any thoughts/suggestions on how long they take to return the Passport and what can I do to get my pasport back ASAP?

    Thanks
    Mohammed

If you have a common name, Admin processing needs to happen for every visa even if it was completed yesterday.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
