H1 to L1 transfer

Hi,

My six years of H1 visa are expiring on Sept2010. Company is planning to apply for L1 visa around JUne/July 2010. I would like to know if i get another 6 years on new L1 visa OR the time left on H1 visa is transferred to L1 visa and i get another 3-4 months on new L1 visa.

I am getting conflicting statement from people and hope that experienced people in this forum wold be able to help clear the confusion.

L1 + H1B together is 6 years. You need to spend one year outside U.S to get a fresh 6 year period (Unless you have applied for PERM at least 365 days before the end of the 6 year period).
