L1-R Transfer

I have a valid Regular L1 visa which is in my name, I have now planned to move to another company, current company is asking me return my work permit. I would like to add that I have not used the Visa yet.

I would like to know whether I can transfer it to next company am going? And can I initiate it even after I return my work permit.

L1 is intra-company transfer.
You have to go for a fresh L1 by new employer, not transfer.
