  • PED and Expiry Date in L1 Visa

    Hi,

I have L1 visa. In that, PED # is mentioned as 30-SEP-2019 and Expiration Date is mentioned as - 16-AUG-2022. What does this mean?
As far as I know, I can travel to USA as visa is vald...

    Let me know

    Paritosh

PED stands for Petition Expiration Date. Petition gives you rights to "work" in USA. So even though you will have I94 ending somewhere in future, you need to stop working at the PED or apply for extension.

Expiration date is for your visa. Visa gives you rights to "enter" in USA. You can use that visa to enter anytime until 16-Aug-2022, provided you've other valid documentations with you.

    Hope this helps.

      Thank you Libra_14.

I have some what same question.

I'm currently in my first extension of L2 visa.

In 2018, I was given a 5 year visa and the stamp is valid from 01/14/2018 - 01/14/2023 and PED expiring on 01/14/2020.

I applied for my visa extension and got approved and my new I797 form says, that it is valid between 01/15/2020 - 01/14/2022.

If I go to India this year, do I need a new visa stamp to re-enter United States or the old visa stamp with validity till Jan-2023 is sufficient to enter into US?

      Thanks in advance.

I answered your question in your own thread.

          Hello,
I have a similar question. My current L-1A petition expires in July '21, and I'm in the US. My visa expires in July '21, and the PED date on my visa is May '20. I travelled outside the US in Jan '20 and after I returned my I-94 expiry date was updated to July '21.

          Am I out of status?

          Thanks
          Rakesh

I am in the same situation. I checked with my company attorney and they mentioned that I can travel to India and then re-enter based on the new I797A + existing visa stamp.

            Did you travel?

Yes, you can travel & will not have any problem.

In short you just need a valid visa & a valid petition in your hand.

Depends if your visa will be valid at the time of your entry back in USA.
