EAD for SSN

Hello! I'm living in the US with all my family. I have an L1 visa. And my little son has L2 visa. Do you think it could be possible to get a SSN and/or EAD for my son? I'm asking because I searched for some time in the internet, but I still cannot find any _official_ document which tells that my child with L2 visa cannot get SSN.. Any link to some official document about all this is greatly appreciated.
