Is ECNR required for L2 Visa

I am going on L1 visa and want to take my wife and son on L2. Is ECNR necessary for them

ECNR has nothing to do with type of visa. It depends on the destination country you are traveling to. There is a list of countries which doesn't do emigration check even if you don't have the stamp. I think US is one of those. search for the entire list some where else.

If your wife is a graduate then she can get the ECNR done easily. Check with passport office of your location on how to get it done for your wife and child to avoid unnecessary troubles. Because you can't speak rules to these airport staff. Sometimes they seem to be mindless to whatever explanations you give.
