  • Our L1 & L2 got extended ...so now we can stay but not travel... Do I get this right?

    Hi!

Our L1 & L2 got extended... But do I get this right?

We got the letter format approvals, so we can stay in USA... but if I want to travel and come back I need the sticker in my passport... and for that I need to go outside of USA?

Now, I'm thinking either my home country in Europe, or save money and just drive to Montreal... but even if they accept 3rd country citizens (?), will I need to stay there for a few days (waiting for the passport), or will they look at the approval and put the sticker in our passports and we will be able to go home in an hour after the appointment?

Any easier way to get this done?

    Thank you so much!

Yes each time you try to enter in USA, you need to have a valid Visa (sticker) in your passport to be able to do so.
If you are not planning to leave USA, then you can stay freely without that Visa (sticker)

Yes, you can go to Canada/Mexico or any other country to get your Visa (sticker) stamped. They do honor it, provided all your documents are in English.

However if your documents are in any local European language, then you might face delay or might be asked to go to Europe to get the Visa (Sticker) stamped.

About the total time, it all depends, in normal case you should still consider a stay for a 3-4 days.

The best is to stay in USA. Second would be to go to home country, meet family, get new visa & fly back.

        Hi!

I'm sorry to ask again, but I am seeking advice regarding the consulate visit...

I am trying to figure out the documents needed to get that sticker in my passport.... and of course the idea that once the VISA extension was granted I will only need to show that paper and get the stamp (sticker) seems naive and there is more bureaucracy involved....

But the list mentioned even here

        and here

seem super excessive... I mean diplomas and wedding albums... the L1 and L2 has been granted based on those... and more importantly - it has been granted, period. So everything once again for a sticker doesn't seem that rational, or? Then again, wouldn't be the first.

Am I just in denial, or getting wound up again for no reason?

        Thank you very much!

You are right & 99% of the time VO won't ask for any of those documents.

But better to carry all those documents, instead of regretting the visa.
