L1A Renewal @ Guadalajara, Mexico - Awaiting decision

I traveled with my family to Mexico (Guadalajara) to get my L1A renewed. I was advised by my immigration lawyer not to go to India due to high rejection rates. Couple of my colleagues who had come to the same consulate few months back said it was pretty straight forward. This is my 2nd renewal after 3 + 2 years. After about 5 mins of interview the VO officer said "My intention is approve" but we want some questions answered.. kept our passports and issued a 221g. A day after i get a list of questions.. they were asking for the same information that was in DS 160 but wanted me to answer back to 15 years + interestingly asked for social media account handles (not user id and passwords). We answered and awaiting decision. Till the time the answers come in me & family are stuck in Mexico. Apparently, this is becoming a standard practice across all consulates when going for L1 renewals. Hoping that we get a decision fast from consulate. Keeping fingers crossed!!

Not yet.. still waiting. Was a long weekend.. hopefully does not get stretched beyond this week.

Status changed to "Issued" today. The crazy part was how different touch points gave a different story on ability to withdraw passport during "Administrative Processing". So i my recommendation to anybody whose visa goes in "AP" is wait it out.. especially if the passports are retained back

Hi Anand, i am in a same situation like yours. I am stuck in Guadalajara from last 1 week. Appeared for interview on Aug 29. Officer said the same thing and retained my passport. just wanted to check with you how long (business days) it took for you to get your passport back. thanks

Did you get your passport back? How long did it take? Did you also get list of 28 questions to answer as a 221g process?
