L1B is extension with h1b lottery received

Hi

Need advice on the below.

I am currently on L1B visa which is due for renewal on Jan 2020.

At the same time my company put me in H1B lottery and I got through the lottery this year.

Now i am going for L1B extension and I am in a confused state whether I need to do it from Chennai since I am going India end of June or from Canada or mexico.I doubt whether I have sufficient Time for L1B renewal if I start in the month of August after I come back from India to take Canada visa and to get an appointment in Canada embassy.

is there anyone in this group who is in similar situation.

whats the chance of getting L1B extension approved?

Any suggestion which embassy we should prefer Taking into consideration the tight duration .

You can file for extension before the last day of your petition expiry & can continue to stay & work awaiting response for that application. And once your petition is approved you do not need visa to continue working, until you plan to visit outside USA. You can also get the stamping done during your next visit to India after approval.

whats the chance of getting L1B extension approved?

The chances are 50-50 considering current situation, where USCIS is thoroughly examining each extension application to verify if the applicant is really having specialized skills.

Other in similar situation can pinch in & help.

But one can legally hold multiple non-immigrant visas at a time & having H1B application pending/rejected/approved, doesn't impact your L1B application decision. Both are treated independently. A lot of applicant applies for H1B before they complete their 5 year for L1B to continue staying in USA after 5 years on L1B.
