L1 travelling ouside US, Dependent L2 in US

Hi,
I am in US on L1 visa with my family who are on L2, for the past 1 year. I need to travel outside US, to my home country for a couple of weeks while my family will be in US.
Can I travel outside US while my family stays here?
Do I need any special permission in order to do this?

You are in L1 status only when you are inside the country. When you leave the country, there is no status. L2 status depends on a valid L1 status. So your dependents will go out of status if you go out of the country. Short visits are permitted. As long as your trip is short, you are okay.

Given that when i am gone my dependent will not have a status of L2, do I need to get a permission. Approval from any authority about my intent to go out and return to the country for a short trip?
Can you please provide details as to how I go about this?

There is no such thing. As mentioned earlier, if it is just a 2 week trip, then you don't have to worry so much.
