L1 Validity and extension

Dear all,

I travelled to USA in L1B during the year 2012 and later did conversion to L1A in 2015. I had returned to India on April 2018. I need to understand:

• How many years of L1A validity still there if in case I am applying for L1A extension
• Do I need to apply with the same client if applying for extension or can be different client (Note: I am still with the same employer in India

If you use your previous petition, then you will have ~1yr. remaining. However, since you have been outside the US for more than an yr. now, you can start with a fresh petition, in which case you can avail the full time period allotted to L1A.
