L-1 visa instead of H1-B -- did anyone do this?

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone chose to apply for an L-1 rather than an H1-B because of the complications of applying for an H1? I know denials are increasing and a lot of people who aren't engineers or in IT don't really get an H1-B either.
