  • Marraige Certificate for L2?

My husband has gone on L1 visa from his company..His company is processing for L2 for me..Our wedding took place in temple 2 yrs back adn we have a temple issued certificate (In Tamilas per Hindu Marraige Act, along with witness).
We have not registered our wedding with the government.
Will this temple certificate be enough for L2? I have wedding invitation, photographs etc.,Can i get a marraige certificate wirthout my husband being here now? Pls help. I am very much woriied on my travel..without this government marraige certificate.

    hi,

Usually consulate pple prefer Registered marriage certificate. I dont know what this temple certificate mean. Is this arranged marriage? Why dont u do one thing take that temple certificate to registar of marriages office and file a registration of your marriage. I think u can go alone if ur hubby is not here. dont worry for my visa stamping they have not asked me any marriage certificate. but if they ask u then its better u keep the original registered marriage certificate. I wonder how come u pple have not got a registered one.

Thanks for your reply..It was an arranged marraige..We were of the assumption that this will be valid and enough as it was mentioned "Valid as per the Hindu Marraige Act" and it has both of our signature, witness and temple authorities seal and signature.
When we enquired with the register office, they need both of us to sign to get the certificate.I read in this website that we can have a translation of the certificate if we dont have a registered one.
Any idea on this? Thanks again.

I think No availability certificate will do. If not you wud have to scan and let your husband sign the form , that way u can get ur registered marriage certificate. Not only for this time. You shud have this doc anytime its an imp one. why dont u talk to the officer once if he says its ok to have ur husband sign the form n courier it to you. All these things shud not take more than a week!
