  • Green Card Status based on visa status change(H1B to L1)

I have been working with company A for 2.5 yrs. and applied for H1B extension and received RFE from USCIS. My green card is in Progress (PERM, applied mid of 2009)

Without waiting for the USCIS decision I would like to apply for L1 visa through the same company as a backup plan.

What will happen to my green card status if visa status change from H1B to L1?
If H1B is approved successfully what would be my status? (H1 or L1)?
Can I continue on H1B status?

    Appreciate your help

    Thanks in advance.

GC is for future work and your current status of L1 or H1b does not matter. I don't get what your idea about applying for a L1 has got to do with the RFE of a H1b. L1 RFEs are far more difficult to handle than H1b ones.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
