Child born in USA to indian parents

Hi all,

My husband is on L1 blanket visa and I am on L2. Now I am pregnant and my due is on July 23rd. We will be here in usa till August 11th. Now, The confusion is should I deliver here in USA or go back to India? Our visa is valid till 2012.

1) Is it possible for me to stay back in USA after the child birth while my husband returns back to India?

2) What are the advantages of delivering the child here in uSA?

3) How long it will take to get the child's SSN, Birth certificate, Passport and visa once the child is born?

4) Is it advisable to travel back to india within a month after the child's birth?

Please help me to decide... And please give me suggestions

>>> No. You will loose your L2 status once your husband leaves the country.

>>> U.S citizenship.

>>> ~20 days.

>>> That is something that you should check with your doctor.

Thanks for your reply.. I have one more doubt. Though my husbands company wants him to return back on August 11th, He can apply leave for two more week. So is it possible for him to stay in usa until we get the childs formalities done?

Also, Please guide me about the procedure of getting the birth certificate, SSN, Passport and Visa(or POI). Since we want to get back as soon as possible, I dont thinkk we can apply for POI card. So will my child get an indian visa easily and what is the procedure?

>>> When a person is on L1, he/she need to be getting paid to maintain the L1 status. Ask you husband to check with his employer to see if they can extend the stay for 15-30 more days.
