My L1 B has expired on Sep 2019 and applied for L1 B extension which max out by Mar 2020 and I140 has been approved recently. Still I did not get the status of L1b yet. Shall I apply for H1 B extension ( I have my old H1B with the same employer 6 years back) while L1 B status is pending to continue my stay after maxout date?

Check if your H1B is expired or not, you only have 6 years to use that H1B from the date of issue.
Also, you can max stay in USA for 6 years only (combined L1 & H1), so if you already stayed for 5 years you can only request for remaining 1 year on H1B.- I am not an Attorney, hence not giving any legal advice. Just sharing MY opinion with an intent to help others.

Yes, In L1 5 years and H1 6 years. With I140 approved you can extend your stay beyond 6 years in H1b.
My question is, can I apply for H1b extension with i140 approved beyond my max out while my L1b extension is in progress.
FYI, I have H1b which is more than 6 years old, it can be renewed using approved I140 on non-cap.
