Can I try for job interviews without ead with approved L2 visa

Hi, I have been waiting for my L2 visa extension process to be completed since April-2019 and since then I am not working as my EAD as well as visa also expired in April. My L2 recently got extended and I received the I-765 approval notice. I have filed for my L2 EAD in JAN 2020. Based on current processing time the EAD wait time is 6-8 months. I wanted to know if I can apply for a job or if any IT company would even consider an employee for interview just with I-797. I know I cannot work until I have the EAD in my hand. It is going to be frustrating to not have a job offer and just wait for the EAD and then apply for job. Any advice and experience shared is appreciated.
