Tenure of L1 visa

Hello - I have stayed from 1996 to 2003 on H1B of 6 years and F1 visa. Can my company now apply for L1 visa? If so, will it have validity of only 1 year?..since max is 7 years? PLEASE CLARIFY. Thanks

Your L1 visa now is a fresh petition. Have you returned to your home country after 2003? If yes, you will get the full duration allocated to L1 and your past stay does not count.

yes - I did return to home country after 2003.

As scientist2016 said, apply for the fresh L1 & you'll get another 7 years to stay & work in USA.
