  • Question on existing L1A visa status during Consulate Visa Renewal process

    Dear Members,

Hope all’s good. My current L1A Blanket visa expires in June, 2020 & the attorneys have suggested to go for a consular renewal instead of a USCIS service center extension.

In this regard i have a question. In the worst case scenario, the application for the L1A Blanket renewal is rejected, will my current visa( which is valid till June, 2020) be cancelled as well by the consular officer? I would need to travel back to the US , hence asking this question. Did anybody in this forum had any prior experience of this sort?

Any feedback would be highly appreciated.

    Regards,
    Andy

Well, its quite possible. If they found you not eligible to work in USA in future, they can also reject your current visa as well.

So better, either you try for extension while staying in USA (that way you can stay in USA post June 2020, until your application is processed) or you apply for renewal outside USA after June 2020 only.

Thanks Libra for taking time to respond. Again, out of curiosity, cancelling the existing visa is it a prevalent process?
