L2 EAD renewal

Hi

I am on L2 Visa, my EAD expires in July 2010 & my L2 visa expires in August 2010. I will be going out of USA for renewal of my L2 VISA within next 1 month. Should I apply for renewal of my EAD now or wait till I get my new VISA?

If you apply now, you will get an EAD only for 1 month (Until August). Your visa has got absolutely nothing to do with your EAD. Visa is just an entry document. Your L2 status and EAD depends on the primary L1 petition. If L1 petition is already extended, then you can get your L2 stamped until the extended L1 expiry date on the petition. Upon coming back to U.S, you can apply for an EAD which will be valid until for the same duration.

L2 EAD renewal with valid I-94

Hi,

Below are the validity dates of my L2 Visa, I-94 & EAD:

L1 Petition & L2 Visa Expiration Date: 18JUL2010
I-94 : 06MAY2011
EAD expiration date: 02OCT2010

I would like to apply for EAD renewal on June 4th, 2010 [120 days before EAD expiration]

Since I & my husband have I-94 valid till May 2011, my husband's company is planning to extend L1/L2 Blanket visas next year. Will my EAD renewal process have an impact in any way with L2 visa/L1 petition validity?

As per my understanding, since I would remain on valid L2 visa after 18 July, 2010 for 7 months[till I-94 expiration date] I can renew my EAD without necessarily extending my L2 visa.

As per USCIS, the below documents are required for EAD renewal along with the filing fee($340) :
(1) A copy of I-94
(2) A Copy of last EAD (Front & Back).
(3) 2 Recent photos with the given specifications.
