  • Recent L1A visa what next

    Hi all

I arrived in NY on a L1A visa in December 2019, however due to many circumstances at this trying time the job I am here to do has not really materialized leaving me incredibly frustrated and wondering what my options are

Does anyone know if it’s possible for me to purchase my own business in the US and apply for a visa through that to stay here (I have a partner here so my preference is to stay). Do you know if it’s possible to apply for a change from L1A to E2 (I believe) without leaving the country

if I leave the company obviously I would lose the visa and can’t return home as I don’t have a job there. To leave my company this soon would result in a large financial loss to me as I have to replay many fees and relocation costs.

any advice on what my options are would be great, I feel personal and mental health are more important than the financial losses

I guess you meant EB5 green card.

For EB5 you need to show that you've minimum $500K for purchasing a business in rural area ($1M for urban area). Remember you cannot take a loan to show that you've that money.

If you have that much money, then yes you can switch from L1A to EB5.

      Thank you very useful
I was for now looking at the E-2 visa as I do not have the $1mln to invest. Would be looking at this stage to invest $450k or so
if I did resign do you know how long I get to leave the country as my current I-94 is valid till Dec22 however as linked to the job is there a grace period ?
