Switching to L2 from L1 after applying EAD

Hi,

I am currently on L1 status and would like to convert to L2 in another 3 months. I would like to work on EAD after I obtain the L2 status.

I have the following questions:

1) I would like to apply for the EAD asap so that I can continue working on my EAD after I obtain my L2 COS. Is it possible for me to apply for EAD while on L1 status?
2) Can I get the EAD first and then change my status to L2?
